About the project:
Zog is our attempt at making a vertical slice for an action game. With a team of 20+, we wanted to make something that looked and felt like a polished ‘triple A’ title. The player is ZOG, a damaged combat robot that is powered up after the end of a robot-human war.
The goal for the Cadence Combat System was to reward players for timing their attacks without punishing the player for missing that timing or button mashing.

What I learned
This was the first time working on a project of this scale trying to organize such a large team, so I learned a lot in terms of planning and communication as well as managing conflicting personalities.
A unique challenge for the design of this project was making a robot player character that kills humans feel sympathetic without making the humans feel too brutish and unrealistic.
I was also excited to finally design, implement, and balance a complex combat system.
