Project Description:
Skyward is a total conversion mod for Unreal Tournament 2004. Skyward is a co-operative game set in a fantasy steam punk environment.
The first player controls Elyse. The first player's gameplay is similar to a platformer because of the two unique abilities Elyse has at her disposal. One is the air launch which allows her to burst forward using her steam powered boots every time she jumps at the click of a button. The second ability, the air launch, causes her boots to automatically launch her off any metal surface with the same velocity she had entering it. Using these two abilities Elyse is able to quickly and effective traverse the environment.
The second player controls Brent. The second player's gameplay is similar to an on-rails shooter. Brent automatically follows Elyse on a tether. Brent's job is to protect Elyse with his trusty steam pistol as Elyse traverses the environment.
The two players must work together in order to avoid the spike balls, air boats, missile pods, and other dangers as well as work together to access new ground using platform balls which temporarily transform into metal platforms for Elyse once Brent shoots it.
My Roles:
Designer:
I was one of two people responsible for the design of the game. Particularly the game mechanics. Ranging from the enemies in the game to how each character's abilities would work
Texturer:
As the primary texture artist I was responsible for UV unwrapping and texturing all the models provided by the modeler as well as provide baseline tile-able textures for the level designer to use.
Animator:
As the animator I was responsible for creating the animations for the characters and enemies in the game.
